A perfectly written - and thrilling - encounter with the supernatural.
From my reading of "Homecoming" I expected "Shadows in the Sand" to be good. It wasn't. It was better than good. It was perfect. Perfectly paced. Perfect dialog. Engaging story. And a wonderfully fast read.
I can't say enough good things about Scott Langrel's prose - reading it is a smooth and flowing experience. And the dialog is spot on - specially the banter between Finn and Amanda, just wonderful.
The supernatural elements in this book I found simply fascinating. The villains are from some obscure lore that I am sure I will remember the next time I walk on the beach.
So does this horror book deliver on the chills? There were moments that were genuinely scary but I felt thrilled more than scared.
