Faith of the Fallen is the best book in the Sword of Truth series. Rivaling Stone of Tears and approximated by Phantom.
Goodkind is at his descriptive best during the early part of the story when he describes nature in the Westlands. Goodkind effectively conveys his live of nature in those passages and gives us an experience of a level of natural beauty that we will perhaps never experience in the real world.
Many plot points advance the story in this book but all of them is eclipsed by the focus Nicci. Nicci, previously only a side character, has not only become a main character for me but my favorite on par with Kahlan. She is beautiful, powerful, crazy and just very compelling and attractive.
The story reveals admirable aspects about Richard as it subjects him to a situation where he is helpless and beleaguered - just the kind of pressure that will reveal what a person truly is inside. Lot's of valuable lessons during this part of the tale.
This book is the apex, the Sword of Truth will never be this good ever again.
