Batman 3

I find this cover the most underwhelming in an arc with magnificent covers but that only shows how great the other covers are considering that this is an action cover of the Batcycle.
The start of this story feels me with trepidation because it seems to be a flashback of Batman's origin and that is always a hard, heartbreaking read for me. Here is the family having a nice night out.

Here they turn into the fateful alley. Don't do it!

The attack happens. The Dad is taken out with a punch and now the bastard turns toward the Mom. Look at Bruce's face. This is heartbreaking.

Then suddenly, this awesome, beautiful detail.

This isn't Bruce! This isn't Bruce! Oh, awesome!

Just great.

That guy in the alley begins obsessing over the Batman. Here he is with his sister. She is also swept away by his fascination.

"Obsessing" means helping out witht the community.

Self-improvement. Both body and mind.

And staring at the bat signal.

They also go overseas to help out.

At some point during their stay abroad they ask their father for some cash. Take note of the guy in the green suit making the inquiry.

This is not the origin of Batman after all, this is the origin of Gotham and Gotham Girl. The partial origin.
The guy in the green suit turns out to be Bruce Wayne.

Now let's have some fun! Bruce drives off in a nondescript car, receives a Batman alert from Alfred, and this happens:

Somewhere in the city a bridge is collapsing and Gotham is holding it up . . .

. . . while Gotham Girl saves civilians.

Batman arrives and these gadgets start jumping out of his cycle and attaching themselves to the bridge.

These devices are in turn attached to the batplane and the whole arrangement helps to hold up the bridge.

As the issue wraps up we have this cliffhanger.

I'm suddenly worried. These two, even with their powers, I don't think they can handle the Psycho Pirate. No amount of stremgth can handle the Psycho Pirate.
