Batman 1

We see Commissioner Gordon and the Batman conducting their usual rooftop meeting when an airliner gets into trouble.

Immediately I'm liking this because Tom King has the guts to put a Superman problem in a Batman comicbook. I mean what can Batman do here but look right? We all know that 'no' is the answer to that. We all know Bruce will try something. First thing is he jumps off the building and Finch gives us a spectacular visual.

Glimpses of the Batmobile dashboard never gets old.

And the exterior of the car is also worth a look.

Finch seems to be going for the tank/car hybrid. The emblem at the front reminds me of the very first batmobile.
With this kind of problem Superman would simply fly in; Batman needs his crew. He links up with Duke for help with times and locations.

With that data Batman drives the Batmobile off the bridge.

Then he ejects

Pure determination on Batman's face here.
Additional support comes in in the form of Jim Gordon

I love this exchange: Gordon asking where Batman is:

Gordon is like "of course".

Having "landed" on the plane, Batman installs some thingies under the plane.

Next member of the support team: Alfred

The plane approaches the city.

Then we have a shot of a mysterious guy on the rooftop who has apparently killed the one who shot the plane.

In a gut-wrenching twist the story turns from all out action to a tearjerker as Bruce says goodbye to Alfred.

And then another twist!

Who are those two under the plane? Batman thinks it's Superman.
Thus we are introduced to Gotham and Gotham Girl.
